I chose this definition off of Wikipedia for origins of the expression:
Bowing

To "break the leg" or "break a leg" is archaic slang for bowing or curtsying; placing one foot behind the other and bending at the knee "breaks" the line of the leg. In theatre, pleased audiences may applaud for an extended time allowing the cast to take multiple curtain calls, bowing to the audience.[11]
Hope you are wildly successful!Diana Flegalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11373354354968232390noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2443765296489868573.post-12063673787122084852011-09-19T12:59:20.931-04:002011-09-19T12:59:20.931-04:00Conference success comes in all forms, and constru...Conference success comes in all forms, and constructive criticism offered by professionals like you is more valuable than receiving a "yes" for a proposal or manuscript that isn't ready for readers' eyes. "Not yet" is sometimes one of the best answers to prayers, even when we're disappointed to hear it. I pray authors who meet with you at this conference soak up every bit of advice you offer them, Andy. I certainly appreciate all you offered me!Diana Prusikhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16803944879885632604noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2443765296489868573.post-17993822945559449352011-09-19T12:45:31.344-04:002011-09-19T12:45:31.344-04:00I'm sure it will come as a revelation to many ...I'm sure it will come as a revelation to many blog readers to learn that an agent or editor can get pre-conference jitters. Writers tend to think of jitters solely as an author's affliction, since they are the ones who must hold up their new baby and say, "Here she is. Do you think she's pretty?"

May you have the gift of thoughtful articulation with each writer who must hear that the newborn isn't quite ready to graduate and receive a diploma. And may each of those writers take advantage of the chance to receive advice from experienced, non-biased voices at their appointments. Have a great conference!Rick Barryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17795635112065282277noreply@blogger.com
